Downtown Looking Up

The Huntsville Times had an editorial on the revitalization of downtown. I am wondering if others are seeing more people downtown with the addition of Drake State?

I would like to see things pick up but construction still dominates the Square. Construction crews take up all the parking. Parking is still only 30 minutes. (who shops in 30 minutes?) and there is no public seating - just a lot of concrete. I own Studio 100 Gallery at 117 North Side Square. I don't open on Saturdays because there are not enough destinations to generate traffic. I don't expect Drake to make much difference in my sales. The only positive I've seen is more on street lighting. Except for a new martini bar a few doors down, I haven't noticed anything else that might attract visitors to downtown.

I was downtown today and got stuck in traffic because of the construction. I am sure this keeps people away from businesses. Hopefully, when the dust clears, there will be much more business downtown.
